NASA Internship at the Langley Research Center (Hampton, Virginia)

I delayed my graduation by a year to accept a research and development internship with NASA from January 2020 to April 2020. The project was a novel packaging solutions for food and medicine in space which involved making high oxygen barrier polymer composite films. I was the first intern to work on this project and my main responsibility was setting up a plan to make the polymer films with additives and finding appropriate test methods for samples. The details of this project and my resulting report can't be shared with the public at this time as Langley is in the process of provisional patenting.

The level 1 Lucy Student Pipeline Accelerator and Competency Enabler program involved working in a virtual team of 11 students for 12 weeks to deliver a developed Preliminary Design Review. The mission that the PDR needed to propose was a Mars mission to characterize the water feed stock for future human landing sites. The focus of this program was to build skills in collaboration, research, and writing.

NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS)

NCAS is an amazing experience available to community college students where, after a five-week online course, students spend a week at a NASA center. I was assigned the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California.
